Institute of Health Care Engineering
with European Notified Body of Medical Devices
The progressive ageing of our society together with an ongoing shortage of resources challenges public health care enormously. This requires developing more efficient and affordable methods and technologies for health care without compromising patient safety.
For this reason, the Institute of Health Care Engineering deals with methodological, technical, operational, organizational, economic and quality assuring aspects of intra- and extramural health care with particular emphasis on patient safety.
With the affiliated Testing and Certification Body for Medical Devices (PMG), the University of Technology Graz is the only university in Europe having an European Notified Body which is not only authorized to test medical devices, but also to issue certificates allowing products being placed on the entire European market. In addition, PMG is authorized for certifying quality management systems of medical devices manufacturers. With its know-how on conformity assessment and the specific competence of a university of technology PMG is able to offer a comprehensive service to its clients.
