Live Sustainability

In the face of emissions harmful to human beings and the environment and scarce energy reserves, one of the central challenges of the new millennium is to create an environment worth living in for young people. What are sought after are global innovative solution models. Graz University of Technology is taking on this challenge.
As a herald in teaching, a discoverer and optimizer in research and as a role model for lived sustainability, it actively promotes the dialogue on environmentally compatible development on all levels.

Sustainability4U

In 2008, Karl-Franzens-University Graz, Graz University of Technology, the Medical University of Graz, and the University of Music and Performing Arts founded the sustainability platform "Sustainability_4U". And with resounding success! The Graz initiative snapped up the Sustainability Award 2010 from the ministry for science and the environment.
A study carried out by the "UniMobil_4U" project in 2010 revealed that the 45,000 students and 11,000 staff of the four Graz universities are environmentally aware road users.
Only eight in 100 university staff use private cars to drive to their university every day. The study is just one contribution among many from the sustainability platform "Sustainability4U".

Sustainability Report 2005/2006

On the occasion of the Decade for Education and Sustainable Development, Graz University of Technology presents its own “Sustainability Report” for the first time and thus ranks among the leaders of Austria's scientific landscape. The topic of “sustainability” already has a long tradition in research at Graz University of Technology: A large number of research projects that focus on sustainability are in progress, from alternative heating methods to waste-water purification and alternative fuels. Together with the Karl-Franzens University Graz, Graz University of Technology forms the “Sustainable Universities” cluster.
