Access to TUGnet using Wireless LAN
Within several areas of TU Graz it is possible to connect to TUGnet using WLAN. If you are nearby a WLAN-AP operated by ZID your device (notebook computer, laptop, ...) will automatically recognize „tug“ in most cases. You can connect to that network without the need of an account (username and password).
Because of this open access the „wireless network“ at TU Graz will be treated for security reasons like an external network - so it is not possible to access pages outside TUGnet if you are not authenticated. For full access you have to use VPN.
In contrast to most company networks we don't try to hide our WLAN but secure the border between WLAN and the rest of TUGnet (and Internet).
Internet Access to Restricted Services Using Tino (Webredirect)
Full Internet Access Using 802.1x
Full Internet Access Using VPN
For access to pages within TUGnet your device has only be connected to the WLAN of TU Graz (SSID „tug“).
Internet Access to Restricted Services Using Tino (Webredirect)
If you hold an employee or guest account of TU Graz you have to connect with WLAN „tug“ and open your web browser. You will see a window asking for your TUGRAZonline credentials. After your successful authentication you can use the following services:
- SSH
- HTTP(S)
- IMAP(S)
- POP(S)
- SSMTP (Port 465)
- mail message submission (Port 587)
- IPsec-VPN (UDP 500, 4500, TCP 10000, ESP and AH)
This means you can check your emails, browse the web and you can securely connect to SSH servers although it is recommended by ZID to use VPN.
Full Internet Access Using 802.1x
Using a 802.1x supplicant you can connect to TUGnet where you can use all internet services provided by TU Graz.
Full Internet Access Using VPN
By means of a VPN client it is possible to establish a tunnel to TUGnet, so you will get an IP address of TUGnet (129.27.*) and you can use all internet services provided by TU Graz.
